Just a quick note to let you know that I will be off, for a personal medical reason, for the remainder of this week. Your children will be in good hands! We are so lucky to have Ms. Petra Norman, a familiar face to many, looking after our class this week! I know the children will make her feel welcome!

Notre Dame November “Brown Bag” Initiative
Each class will be given an item to collect for the month of November. For example, granola bars, socks, wipes, etc. We will then assemble all items into the brown bags to distribute to the less fortunate. Each class will be involved in the assembly of the bags in the gym (the last week of November). The student parliament will then distribute the bags to those in need in our city.
Student Parliament will begin promoting this on the announcements Thursday and Friday. Representatives will also come to each class with a copy of all the items we are collecting, and which class is responsible for each item.
Ready, Set, “Grow”
Our class will grow by one on Thursday when we welcome a new student into our class! I know all of the Grade One children will be so welcoming to her!!!
Living and Non-Living Things
Here are some links to support the work we have been doing in science:
Earbuds
A few of our classroom headphones have stopped working. If you have an extra set of earbuds at home that your child could bring to school (for her/his use only), it would help us for our Daily 5 Literacy centres.
Students with their own ear buds can keep them in their personal materials bins (side shelf under word wall).
Thanks!
Movie and PJ Day
Tomorrow (Friday) is movie and PJ day at Notre Dame. Primary students may bring 1 small stuffie each with which to cuddle during the movie.
Our Fall Leaf Creations in Process
Wednesday October 10, 2018
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope families had a chance to spend time with one another, and maybe even take in some of the beautiful weather we have had.
On Thursday October 11th (afternoon), we will practise 2 Emergency Preparedness Drills: Lockdown, and Shelter-In-Place.
On Friday, we are very lucky to have our parish priest visit us in our classroom!
**This Friday is NOT PJ day, it has been postponed until October 19th**
Next week, student council is selling candygrams: one for $.50, or 3 for $1.
In math, we are extending our work on numbers (counting forwards by 1s to 100, number lines), and we will soon begin some work on temperature and seasonal changes.
In language, we have begun to work on conventions of sentences, and will soon begin our “sentence writing workshop.”
