On Friday, March 9th, Mrs Parr’s class and our class will be having a board game day (in the afternoon). Many board games have numeracy or literacy elements (or both!), and are a great way to support reading, counting, reasoning, and teamwork skills in our students.
If you have a board game that your child enjoys and are willing to share it with others, please send it in with your child on Friday, March 9th.
It was nice to see some of you at the family math night last week! If you didn’t have a chance to attend, I attached links (on the math links page) to 2 of the websites that were highlighted at the evening.
It was so nice to see so many of my students’ parents last night at the interviews. I have added an extra link about first grade reading strategies to the “links and handouts” page which you might want to use when reading with your little one at home.

I am very blessed to have such a wonderful group of hardworking students who have very supportive and loving parents. Please take some time to review the report card with your child and share some of the feedback and comments on the report card. You may wish to highlight 2 strengths, and 1 area that needs some improvement. It is an important part of the learning process to clearly understand strengths as well as areas needing extra time and effort!
I look forward to meeting with many of you at interviews next week!

In art, we are learning about colour theory and the colour wheel. We already know about the 3 primary colours: red, blue and yellow. Today, we reviewed the secondary colours. In our art today, we used complimentary/contrasting colours to make our colours stand out. Here are some videos we watched to help us learn.
